El Shaddai

 

El Shaddai means the Almighty-All Sufficient God. The word El means “strength, might, and power.”  God is our sufficiency.  His unlimited might, power and strength are able to meet our every need. He is our strength and life sustainer. We have no need beyond what he gives us.

Scriptural Context:

Genesis 17:1,2 “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.”

Genesis 28:3 “And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people.”

Genesis 35:11 “And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee. and kings shall come out of thy loins.”

Genesis 48:3,4 “And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me, And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people: and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.”

Revelation 16:7,14 “And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”

Revelation 19:15 “And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

Revelation 21:22, 23 “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it and the Lamb is the light therof.”
