THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE PRAYER LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN

Focusing on God should be a natural habit of the child of God. We should all be conversing with the Lord throughout the day in one form or another. It could be a situation where we are thanking Him for a particular event or circumstance that has, or will be occurring in our own lives. And we are constantly interceding or petitioning the Lord on our own behalf, or on behalf of others for things we need in life.

Certainly we are all familiar with the repeating incidences where we use our spiritual weapons to combat the spiritual forces of evil that are commonplace in our lives. Most significant, we fellowship with God on a daily basis because we are grateful for His protection, provisions, blessings, and especially His Son, Jesus Christ.

The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is given to everyone upon conversion. He is there to lead, guide, and help us to obey God’s Word. The Holy Spirit also channels our hearts and mind toward the things of God; and allows us to hear, receive from, and converse with God. Particularly, when we are lead by the Holy Spirit we are drawn into prayer and worship. For it is then that we are inspired by the scripture to receive the truth -the ways and will of God for our lives - and to walk therein.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (John 14:16-18).
